Our Chinese Intermediate 3 course is designed for students who has knowledge of 800 or more words, who ideally has put in effort to learn all of the Hanzi prescribed in all of our previous courses (400 Hanzi in total), therefore, who can read 200+ Hanzi without Pinyin.
In this course, students will start to read small texts without Pinyin. No new Hanzi will be introduced, instead, consolidating and reading practise will be in focus. For conversational practise, we will move away from text reading to real life stories. Each lesson, we will practise story telling with an interesting subject. Students will watch a story told by a native speaker and follow the example to tell their own stories.
Key grammar points covered in this course include review of verb complement of result, and direction; introduction of complement of possibility; rhetorical questions; flexible use of interrogative pronouns etc.
If you have learnt all of these, you can consider taking the next course – Intermediate 4.

- can speak Chinese with natural pronunciation
- ideally has knowledge of 800 or more vocabularies.
- Ideally can read 200-400 Hanzi without Pinyin
- can hold a conversation or talk about an event with ease
- have good foundation of all important grammatical structures like verb aspect, verb complements, use of modifiers and adverbs, special sentences like 是…的,把,被, and the colloquial nature of topic comment in Chinese.
This course will focus on vocabulary building on a range of topics that are closed to daily life, at the same time the questions asked are more abstract or detailed, so as to practise speaking with organised thoughts, with specific vocabularies. The 5 headline topics in this course are 爱情,友谊,工作,赚钱,购物。Students will practise their listening skills by listening to native speakers on video answering various related questions in unfiltered language, then students will follow suite to practise answering these questions with their own options and stories.
There are 4 courses at this level, we recommend students to always start from lower level of the courses, or to pick a class where your level is most aligned with the classmates.

Our Advanced Business course is designed with 6 modules which reflects our students’ learning interest. Each of the modules has 8 topics, where key vocabularies are outlined for study, in the form of news articles or case studies. Most of these case studies will be from China, for example, you might learn about the Chinese government structure, stories of the business tycoons and their companies in China, booming sector and innovative startups, or the stock market and property market.
For learning material, we curate one article each topic with outlined vocabularies. Additionally, each lesson should include 0.5 hour to 1 hour learning time for current affairs discussion. The source is commonly financial times 中文网。The ability to engage in conversations about current affairs with the right vocabularies is a step up from being comfortably fluent, it’s also a crucial step to achieve working proficiency in Chinese.
