Event Invitation
Double Eleven, also known as Single’s Day, originated in China is celebrated on November 11th (11/11). The date was chosen because the number “1” resembles a single person standing alone, making it the perfect symbol of being single! Originally a fun way for students to embrace their single status, Single’s Day has since grown into the world’s biggest shopping festival.
While many take advantage of online sales, Double Eleven has also become a day for people to indulge in self-care and experiences, whether they’re single or not. Friends get together, couples join in, and everyone uses it as an opportunity to enjoy great food and have fun.

Cultural introduction
Double Eleven (11/11) started in China as a day for singles to celebrate their independence, with the date symbolising “ones” standing alone. Over time, it evolved into the world’s largest shopping event, where people—single or not—treat themselves and enjoy experiences like dining, travel, and entertainment.
Beyond shopping, the day also highlights changing social attitudes towards being single. Single’s Day celebrates individualism, self-love, and independence, all of which resonate with a global audience. It has become an opportunity for people to reclaim the narrative around being single, from being something viewed as undesirable to being a status that is celebrated and enjoyed.
In various cultures, similar celebrations exist like Korea’s Black Day (April 14th), where singles gather to eat jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) together. Both days highlight the idea of enjoying one’s own company and embracing singleness in a fun, social way.
