🎄Double 12 = Doulbe the Fun!
Dear Asia’s 3rd Annual Xmas Party is here!
Although we’ve been teaching for over 12 years, this is only our third Christmas party—so we’re making it count with double the fun!
❤️ We Love Our Community!
There would be no Dear Asia without our amazing community of dedicated teachers and inspiring students.
Everyone who works here is a teacher, and we’re proud to be part of your learning journey. Many of you have been with us from beginner to advanced over several years—this kind of long-term connection is what makes our school special.
We’re here to learn, laugh, connect, and build something truly meaningful together.
🎉 It’s a Party!
We’ve learned a few things over the years—like how to manage the drinks table!
This year, we’re upping the food game instead. You’re still encouraged to bring your favorite drinks, but we’re investing more in tasty bites.
🍗 Last year’s Japanese-style KFC Xmas theme was a hit—what could possibly top that? Come and find out!
🎁 Luckdraw of the Night!
Don’t miss the legendary Lucky Draw—one of the night’s most anticipated moments!
We’ve prepared tons of prizes, from imported goodies to gift vouchers. Everyone has a fair shot—teachers and students alike. You just might be the lucky winner!

Cultural introduction
Though Christmas is not a traditional holiday in China, Japan, or Korea, it has been adapted in unique ways that reflect each country’s social and cultural values. In China, Christmas is largely a commercial celebration, popular in cities among younger generations. Shopping malls are decorated, and gift-giving is common among friends, but the holiday lacks religious significance. A quirky tradition is gifting apples wrapped in red packaging, symbolizing peace (ping’an), as the word for Christmas Eve (Ping’an Ye) sounds like “peaceful night.”
In Japan, Christmas is also non-religious and more about romance and consumer culture. It is often treated like Valentine’s Day, with couples going on special dates, and people enjoying a Western-style meal—most famously, KFC, which has become a national Christmas tradition due to a 1970s marketing campaign. Illuminations, gift exchanges, and festive cakes also mark the season.
In South Korea, where Christianity has a larger presence, Christmas is both a religious and public holiday. Churches hold special services, and it’s also a time for couples and families to celebrate, combining Western traditions with Korean social customs. Like Japan and China, it reflects the blending of global culture with local values, showing how holidays can evolve and take on new meanings in different cultural contexts.
