In this Asian tea tasting event, you will get the chance to taste the most popular and signature tea from Japan, China and Korea. You will also learn the traditions and brewing methods of each tea and the significant role tea plays in each country. These are the best picks for you to enjoy:

Oolong Tea

Oolong tea is a Chinese tea that has cultural significance in China and several other parts of South East Asia. The word ‘oolong’ comes from ‘Oo’ (or wu) meaning black, and ‘long’ meaning dragon, which may refer to the long, dark and curled nature of oolong tea leaves. This poetic name provides a telling picture of the role that Oolong tea plays in Chinese culture. Oolong is especially popular in south China as is the Fujian preparation process known as the gongfu tea ceremony.

Matcha Tea

Japanese matcha is a vibrant green powdered tea cherished for its unique flavor and cultural significance. Its rich umami taste, derived from shade-grown tea leaves, sets it apart from other green teas. Matcha is prepared by whisking the powder with hot water, resulting in a frothy and meditative beverage. The matcha tea ceremony itself is a way of celebrating hospitality, respect and mindfulness. Packed with antioxidants and promoting a sense of calm, matcha is a treasured delight enjoyed in Japan and around the world.

Yuja-cha

Yuja tea, resembling marmalade in appearance, boasts an invigorating, soothing, and sweet-tart taste. During winter, it is cherished as a hot beverage, while in summer, the addition of ice cubes creates a delightful, refreshing treat. Notably rich in vitamin C, this tea is renowned as a popular home remedy for the common cold. It’s fascinating to consider that Korean supermarkets dedicate entire aisles to the wide array of yuja-cha available, highlighting its significant presence in Korean culture.
